Model Overview

The NIO EC6 is an all-electric mid-size coupe SUV from NIO. First introduced in 2020, it is a crossover derivative built on the same platform as the NIO ES6. On 2 April 2026, the 2026 NIO EC6 was officially launched; on 15 June 2026, NIO further introduced the EC6 Champion Edition. Built on NIO's NT2.5 platform, the 2026 EC6 starts from RM358,000 for outright vehicle purchase and from RM250,000 under the Battery as a Service (BaaS) scheme; the Nature's Wonder Edition starts from RM370,000 for outright purchase and from RM262,000 under BaaS; the Champion Edition starts from RM373,000 for outright purchase and from RM265,000 under BaaS. Positioned as a "smart luxury shooting coupe SUV", its key rivals include the Tesla Model Y and XPENG G6.
Design Language
The 2026 EC6 adopts NIO's signature X-Bar design language, where the iconic split Double Dash daytime running lights complement the 23° sporty reverse-cut rear profile. Featuring a sleek fastback coupe SUV silhouette, the roofline flows seamlessly from the B-pillar, which, along with the active electric deployable rear spoiler, yields a low drag coefficient of 0.24 Cd. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,849 mm long, 1,995 mm wide, and 1,697 mm tall, with a 2,915 mm wheelbase. The 2026 model introduces the Moon 3.0 exterior package as standard across the range, offering nine bespoke exterior shades including Spiritual Purple, alongside an electrochromic panoramic glass roof. The Champion Edition comes in Deep Space Black (Moonlight Silver optional), paired with Racing Green brake callipers, badging, and Shadow-themed decals, riding on 21-inch five-spoke Wind Wing obsidian black alloy wheels.
Conceived around the "Second Living Room" design philosophy, the cabin adopts a wraparound layout with exclusive interior colour schemes such as Pine Green with Edelweiss White and Pearl Shell with Tortoiseshell Brown. The Champion Edition features an exclusive Shadow Black cabin theme (contrasting Alpine Grey with Racing Green accents), with an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and Microfiber suede-trimmed seats standard across the range.
Powertrain and Performance
The 2026 EC6 is equipped as standard with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup across the range. The front axle is powered by an AC asynchronous electric motor (150 kW and 280 Nm), while the rear axle employs a permanent magnet synchronous motor (210 kW and 420 Nm). Together, the system churns out a combined output of 360 kW (approx. 490 PS) and 700 Nm of torque. This enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds, on to a top speed of 200 km/h.
For driving range, a 100 kWh long-range battery pack (utilising cells from CATL and other suppliers) comes standard, delivering up to 655 km of pure electric range under the CLTC cycle; a 75 kWh standard-range battery and a 150 kWh ultra-long-range pack are also available as options. For energy replenishment, it supports NIO's nationwide battery swap network with 3-minute swaps, alongside 180 kW DC fast charging.
Chassis and Handling
Underneath, the 2026 EC6 rides on five-link independent suspension front and rear, equipped with standard CDC (Continuous Damping Control) adaptive dampers with adjustable stiffness. The Champion Edition gets further chassis enhancements: spring rates, anti-roll bar diameters, and top mount rubber stiffness have all been upgraded, while the CDC hydraulic valves have been retuned to elevate dynamic handling limits without compromising everyday ride comfort. The Champion Edition also introduces an EP Mode drive mode, offering 11 levels of independent damping adjustment for the front and rear axles, along with four preset drive profiles—Daily, Mountain Road, Track, and Launch Control—plus an industry-first "Mountain Pass Mode". The car also features a dual-mode active rear spoiler: the low-drag setting reduces aerodynamic drag by 10% and adds around 10 km of range, while the high-downforce setting generates up to 580 N of downforce at 200 km/h. Stopping power comes courtesy of high-performance four-piston front brake callipers.
Cabin and Features
On the smart cockpit front, the 2026 EC6 features a 15.6-inch 3K AMOLED central touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 19.4-inch W-HUD head-up display, delivering a seamless three-screen interconnected experience. The infotainment is powered by the 4th Generation Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platform (SA8295P high-performance edition), running NIO's "Cedar S" intelligent operating system. The NOMI Mate 3.0 in-car AI companion supports various digital hats. In-car entertainment is handled by a standard 23-speaker enhanced 7.1.4 immersive surround sound system and 256-colour ambient lighting.
In terms of comfort amenities, Nappa leather upholstery is fitted as standard across all variants, joined by a newly added zero-gravity driver's seat. The EC6 comes standard with the Queen Copilot lounge seat for the front passenger (complete with leg rest, footrest, and one-touch full recline). The front row gains dual magnetic mounting docks, while the rear comfort package is also standard-fit (featuring rear seat ventilation and massage functions). Boot space expands from 532 litres to 1,435 litres with the rear seats folded.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety-wise, the 2026 EC6 comes equipped with front driver and passenger airbags, front side airbags, front and rear curtain airbags, as well as a front centre airbag. It features the NIO World Model (NWM) smart driver assistance suite, supporting point-to-point full-domain navigate on autopilot and fully model-based automated parking. The ADAS computing power is driven by NIO's in-house Shenji NX9031 5 nm automotive-grade chip, running on the SkyOS vehicle operating system. A total of 29 high-performance sensing hardware units are fitted around the vehicle, including a 300-line LiDAR, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The system supports Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities, encompassing full-speed adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keeping assist (LKA), lane change assist (LCA), traffic light recognition, remote parking, and remote summon. The 2026 model also adds driver assistance indicator lamps, along with a standard 540-degree transparent chassis camera system across the board.
Market Performance and Reception
Since its debut, cumulative deliveries of the NIO EC6 have surpassed 100,000 units, with full-year 2025 sales recording 17,318 units. Moving into 2026, deliveries stood at 806 units across January and February, followed by 657 units in March and 613 units in April. Within NIO's model line-up, the EC6's sales volume has faced notable internal competition from the strong-selling flagship ES8. The launch of the Champion Edition is tailored to meet the niche demands of style-conscious buyers and performance enthusiasts, offering a factory-tuned sporty package straight out of the box. In terms of market reception, the EC6 has carved out a unique competitive edge anchored in premium experience and dedicated ownership services within the RM350,000-class all-electric mid-size SUV market, thanks to its coupe SUV design, 4.4-second century sprint, generous cabin space afforded by the 2,915 mm wheelbase, proprietary battery-swapping infrastructure, and high levels of standard equipment.
